Well done Paul! What a clear and practical contrast between these two schools of thought. I agree about our evolution. We are using a tool (the mind) to explore reality but that’s not what the tool was designed for. It was designed for survival and reproduction. However, one can use a shoe to open a wine bottle. So, we have discovered much with our bias-laden minds (for a great book on the cognitive biases of scientists, see Woody’s Last Laugh by Dr. Chris Haney). Personally, it’s clear to me science’s models of reality are deeply flawed because we can’t explain consciousness well at all - and that is the lens through which we do all our looking!
