Well, darn it, I used to think so - but the end of Roe v Wade taught me religious conservatives want to control women’s freedom and force them into unwanted pregnancies and parenthood. Conservatives seem to want to have Trump dismantle social safety nets, gut the EPA and public schools. So no, sadly, we do not all want the same things.

And, we are being manipulated. I wish we had an election about the issue of concentrated wealth. Both parties are in hock to the rich. But one party promised a massive tax cut for billionaires and to gut climate change measure and drill for more oil.

We can’t hide from politics - but we can find a path to civility while being open and honest about our values.
