This is unfair. Half the senate acted this way (the half that fears Mitch McConnell). I can’t recall a similar act of scorn on the part of Democratic senators. By painting them as a single body instead of one side in thrall to McConnell, you have furthered the sentiment expressed by Mrecubed “they are all scum.” I could not disagree more. Let me just single out Bernie Sanders—and I am not a supporter—but to me he is a great example of someone who works for others according to his principles. That is what he, and many other senators care about.

If we distinguish the good from the loathsome, we can vote the bums out. So please, especially for those of us with a platform on media, let’s not paint the senate with a broad brush - that disengages readers from the political process.
