Thank you John, what an excellent post. It is all too easy for those on the Democrat's "side" to bluster about the two cases being totally different. It is natural that a host of cognitive biases kick in - mine did too.
But, if we deplore the other side, we have to hold ourselves to at least the same, if not a higher, standard of judgement when the poiticians we favour commit similar seeming offences.
I agree that HOW Biden handles this will be key.
And like you, I would not be entirely heartbroken if this adds to the calculus of why he should not run in 2024.
Also - isn't it time there was more independent government oversight of the president and staff when they are clearing out the premises after a change of leadership?
