Richard, I have one counterpoint to offer: your dire predictions are likely to come true—but not convincingly on the timeline you propose - 1 or 2 years. At least, you have not provided convincing expert evidence that this is so. Absent such evidence, their is a downside of going fill throttle into survivalist mode, and that is that it can funnel out energies away front more imminent problems - like standing up to Trump, like working to win back the House in 2026 and this limit the damage he can do. Indeed, the Democratic Party does not adequately act to reduced Climat change. But the Republicans pour gas in the flames. Whatever can slow the crisis buys us time for adaptation.

So for me, these are powerful motivators for short term political action.
