Really thoughtful perspective, Ryan. The 40 euro mining ticket is but one way such towns can moderate the tourism flows. Another is high parking fees. A third is high tariffs for tour busses to prevent tours from zipping in and out and truly not leaving any benefits. But then it is up to the town to capitalize on their income, maybe build other attractions to lessen the flow through the center of town? I’ve seen some places do these kinds of things well, and keep their identities. Whereas others become consumed but the tourists - sucked dry by their succu-busses.
