Oh so sorry to most respectfully disagree! I do enjoy Japan, and lived there for 2 years. I most recently visited Kyoto just three months ago. Beautiful city. But Japan has screwed itself. Simply, the birth rate has fallen to 1.3 births/woman, which is below replacement level. As the nation ages and retires. there are not enough workers to replace them, nor you people to care for the elderly. Why? according to the Economic Times: “Averse to out-of-wedlock births due to entrenched family values, Japan grapples with societal factors contributing to the birth rate crisis. High living costs outpacing salaries, bleak job prospects, and corporate cultures incompatible with dual-working parents emerge as deterrents to marriage and family life.Feb 29, 2024”
In short, the toast may be yummy, but adults don’t want to have families. The nation…is toast.
