Oh, I totally get this. Having a child is pretty much all the kept me from traveling my whole life. Though my wife and I divorced when he was only 2, I stayed to be a presence in his life. Now, at age 65, I feel as shiftless as ever, and so thankful my wife (#2, but always #1 in my heart) also loves the nomadic life. For now at least. To me, I think the key is feeling at home in the world. Just as you said, sometimes you meet people who are “your people” and sometimes you don’t. And not every place resonates. For now, though, I feel to glad to have the chance to wander the earth. It’s enough, more than enough.
