Mike, much of what you write cannot be argued with. And facing dire facts is essential to any actual response worth making. And, to simply point out that we are on the path to doom without offering at least a better alternative - how is this helpful? Most of us will life through the frightful transitions likely to come. There will be a “next thing” - the planet won’t be hitting a redo button. We will go on. But in to What? Asimov’s Foundation comes to mind - who’s building the vault for the future? But there will be real world living vaults where enlightenment values endure. How do we do that? Medium writers - get onto it, please!
And, as to culling populations. Well, here’s the easy way: the rich burn way more carbon, and use way more resources than anyone else. That 1% would cull about 30% of our consumption and emissions, right? But let’s be humane, and simply ask them to start living a sustainable lives, like say, the average citizen of Rwanda or Paraguay?
