Jody, your article deeply resonated with me (as an American expat living part time in Paris - and someone recently returned from three months in New Zealand). I’m surprised we have not bumped into one another! My wife and I are also slowly sliding into retirement. We found sloughing off our work identity, while made easier by Covid - which crashed our business delivering communications courses to development professionals - takes time. To help us, we embraced the term Flâneur, which allows one to enjoy the gift of time. I’ll look forward to more from you in this vein.
