It should come as no surprise that the folks raised in fundamentalist thinking who receive their truths from their pastor or imam or guru also accept as true whatever is offered by their political “leader” and those who serve him. Fundamentalism is the same world over. They accept truth as “the word of God” or “the word of Trump.” Resisting evidence is a testimony to their faith.

I would like to add that these folks are not bad or dirty - as some of these comments above sadly imply, which dehumanizes our fellow citizens. They are the product of their situation and upbringing as much as we are. The ones I loath are those like Rudy Giuliani and a hundred more who chose the lie, knowing full well it is a lie. Perhaps there is a special circle in hell for them—and I am fine with that hell starting here on earth.
