I saw a recent study that said the most recent AI writing is actually not as good as earlier models - the hypothesis was that more recent AIs are now training on a higher percentage of AI content on the internet. As it trains on itself, it will more and more turn into gibberish. I like the idea!
Another point: An artist who created a painting via AI prompts was recently denied copyright of the end product. The judge ruled as this was a composite of much other art drawn from internet sources, the "artist" was not a creator of anything new or unique. Extrapolating: AI writing willl never surpass freshman-year English essays, because it can't create unique products, only regurgitate common phrases gleaned from the net.
