I would like to posit that numbers and math are 100% a human invention. Like a shovel is used to dig, so math is used to measure and ponder the otherwise chaotic nature of the universe. Math helps us perceive the patterns. But the patterns are not themselves math.

I quote an Aboriginal teacher from one of my favorite books, Sand Talk: “Everything is the Dreamtime” - consciousness remakes reality as the Dreamtime and imbues everything with significance, if we choose to see it. The numbers that have become signs for you, they ARE signs for you. They contour your world uniquely and specially for you.
