I really like the author's analysis of the "deep story" of the south and of Trump supporters. I have also written about Trump's primal narrative of the persecuted hero. From the outside, this grifter's narcisistic lies are so hard to comprehend. But on the inside, for his followers, he fills this big mythic role! - maybe. I also think it is very hard to get an accurate bead on another's deep narratives. And even harder to come up with any plan to address it.

I do think that what Kurtis and others the author quotes say about men feeling others are "cutting in line" in front of them is the flip side of the loss of white male priviledge. What they are actaully noticing is the line is no longer roped off for while men only! That must feel like others cutting in.
