I clicked the link and was taken to a very interesting article from the GWU Milken Institute School of Public Health - which discussed the difference between equality and equity strictly in terms of community health care. For example: it’s equality to offer monthly community health meetings in English. But if 25% of the local population don’t speak English, it’s not Equity. The lens of equity requires finding a way to reach that 25% too. So, the distinction is useful for providing social services.
Come to think of it, providing a ramp for wheelchair access is another great example of “equity” of access instead of “stairs for everyone”.
