Hi Mike - you make a good but distressing point, right? What we have in Trump is akin to a super predator appearing on the Savannah, one whose tactics overcome the other creatures, and so he prevails…but in so doing, ravages and destroys the whole ecosystem of our democracy.

He deftly manipulates the media by contant outrage, which they cannot resist covering, thus sucking the oxygen out of the room (where are the news stories analyzing Harris’ 120 page Opportunity Economy blueprint?)

Meanwhile his rallies draw equally from evangelical revivalists and reality TV shows, creating spectacle and stoking his audience with fear and loathing of their (non-white) neighbors.

Yes, he has changed the landscape, this vile beast. He has eroded trust and decency and any semblance of a common reality. But if he survives, then whither, Democracy? (Pun intended).
