Hi Marsha--thank you for this! I found a 300 year old Sami drum at the Karasjok university, that was taken from a Sami shaman when he was executed in 1692--after being tried as a witch. The drum was sent to Denmark, and only in January 2022 was it officially returned to Sami territory. I hope to write about this soon. The return of Sami drums to their home territories is an important step in recovering their heritage and identity.
