Hi John - while I wish Biden was not running, and the party had an open primary, I think your title goes too far - or rather, it makes it seem as if not holding a primary when there's an incumbent is an exception. But one has to go back to H.W.Bush to find the party with the president in power holding a primary campaign. And frankly, given that there have only been 4 one-term elected presidents defeated in the past 100 years (Hoover, Carter, HW Bush, and Trump -so, not counting Ford), the simple logic of sticking with a winner is pretty compelling.
As such, I find your article click-bait-y. I'm fan, and truly value your perspective on politics. The present article doesn't change that one bit, but I thought you would appreciate the feedback.
