Hi Christian - indeed, higher average temperatures do sound like a good thing, right? But that’s not what we are seeing so far, right? My native home, Canada, was thought to benefit - but instead, fires have ravaged the northlands, as higher summer temps have dried out the forests. In Mongolia, it already gets brutally hot in the summers. So higher average might mean even hotter summers that extend the Gobi Desert into the grassland, and yet still bring killing dzuds in winter. We all got fooled by the “higher average” and did not pay enough attention to climate instability resulting in more frequent extreme events. Averages are misleading (on average, humans have one ovary)
