Gosh Andrew, I’m a fan and follower of your work - especially your analysis of the several Americas that make up the “United” states. And, I think you make a great, under-appreciated point about Trump’s popularity stemming from those for whom the system has failed them.

To me, much of your article reflects your perspective that the nation is on its way to dissolution, rather than the trajectory of the mid terms, and the specific issues at hand.

For one thing, the Dems have had only a slender lead in Congress, which greatly limited Biden’s agenda. This has been known since day one. So, getting anything major passed is better than nothing. And this will provide billions to start the energy transformation the nation needs.

What concerns me is that articles like this one make it seem as if both parties are equally bad, democracy is a sham…and so why vote?

I wish instead you would encourage your intelligent readers to pick some good candidates and get involved in their election. Despair or aloof disengagement is the option of a lazy person.

I would very much like to hear how you think we can do something constructive in the coming election cycle.

Your fan,

Tim
