Dear Lisa, Great analysis of the movie, and you are right about the 'us and them" dichotomy it portrays...Isn't that the case though? You or I and many others I know would immediately sacrifice our carbon-energy existence if we would halt it right away. But the owners and bankers and politicians are not making the change, in good part b because their is more incentive NOT to disrupt the systems that make them all rich. Our individual actions, even collectively, will not be enough to change things. Our political pressure, collectively, will succeed. The counter pressure of those who "don't look up" is thus a real problem to reckon with...to me the real problem with the movie is it offers not even a glimpse of a solution. But that is the nature of satire.
