David, very astute article, and I could not agree more. I’m a communications expert for international development and environmental organizations. Helping them make the case that Climate Change demands systemic changes to our economy is indeed a tough message because it is so abstract. But consider what happened in 2008, during the financial crisis. The rich nations of the world swiftly agreed to inject a financial stimulus of 2% of their economies. Though this was also an abstract event, it was discrete, and the fix was relatively simple and short term. Urgency made it work. So how do we get Climate Action onto an urgent track?
