China also can’t be trusted. What is says it is doing, economically, and what it is actually doing, are two different things. China also serves as a great repudiation of autocracies - the argument by Ray Dalio et al that democracies are inefficient and incapable of making swift course corrections, such as action on climate change. Nice in theory, but in fact they are doing the reverse.
