Kamala Harris’ rise in the polls this summer was fueled by an infectious sense of joy that lasted through September — an element frankly missing from presidential politics since Obama waved goodbye.

In mid August, Harris even put out a delightful Facebook campaign inviting supporters to post joyful selfies of themselves:

But, as Trump’s campaign has turned ever darker and more menacing (hard to beleive that was possible) — with his talk about his willingness to turn the army against the “enemy within,” meaning his personal politcal enemies (singling out Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi) — the Harris campaign has become increasingly alarmist.
